Advocating for Older Adults in Transylvania County

Our Role in Supporting Retirement and Aging Services

• Advises the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners and Land-of-Sky Regional Council on matters related to aging and retirement.
• Advocates for the interests of all older adults in Transylvania County, ensuring their voices are heard.
• Highlights existing programs, services, and activities to agencies, organizations, and citizens, creating greater awareness and accessibility.
• Identifies and raises awareness of current and potential challenges facing retirees and older adults while promoting and developing new programs to address these issues.
• Supports the Transylvania County Finance Office, the lead agency for aging services, by contributing to decision-making activities.
• Plans and coordinates the Home and Community Care Block Grant funding to provide vital aging services in Transylvania County, ensuring resources are effectively allocated to meet the needs of retirees and older adults.
